Job Summary

The Sr. Operations Engineer will be accountable for successful development and execution of operational projects and waterresource planning to support efficient operations under the general direction of the Director of Engineering. This individual willneed to thrive in a challenging environment. The Sr. Operations Engineer will oversee all projects related to pipeline and facilityupgrades, budgeting, planning, implementation, execution, and operation scheduling with a strong focus on safety, integrity, and reliability.

The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Accountable for project execution from inception to completion
  • Manage and Coordinate project approval, engineering design, procurement, construction, budget and be on site for commissioning/startup as required. 
  • Solicit project requirements from stakeholders and develop project basis of design to meet requirements
  • Support development of operational standards and processes that would benefit the entire organization
  • Support and maintain operational performance reporting and project KPIs
  • Performs project cost updates & economic analysis
  • Manage software tools that may benefit position and company
  • Facilitates projects in accordance with the company’s engineering guidelines, specifications and industry standards to ensure regulatory agency requirements are met
  • Create, manage, report and maintain operating and capital budgets to stay within approved limits for expenditures and budget 
  • Develops, communicates, and implements company policies and procedures for Pipeline and Facilities Operations; ensures consistency in application and compliance. Assists in reviewing company policies and procedures and makes recommendations for revision based on best practices
  • Create procedures for downhole remediation work and develop a detailed budget
  • Optimize downhole well injectivity performance through routine work on the surface and downhole
  • Create drilling budgets and plans for new wells
  • Manage chemical program that extends pump and well life and maximizes oil skim

Qualifications

  • BS in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering
  • Familiar and Knowledgeable in Industry standards (ASME, API, PIP)
  • Candidates should have at least 5 years of Project Management experience and at least 5 years of Engineering experience.
  • Experience working in the oil & gas industry
  • Experience with managing engineering contractors & contracts
  • Familiar with Upstream oil and gas operations and maintenance
  • Familiar with surface regulatory, environmental and land permits and regulations
  • Able to plan and execute engineering projects independently
  • Requires some supervision and review of some assignments
  • Able to communicate effectively and clearly to drive action and/or result
  • Able to execute PSSR/commissioning processes
  • Expertise in project management principles especially project cost management, time management, scope management and procurement management
  • Extensive knowledge of process pipelines, rotating equipment, surface equipment design and operation
  • Applicable knowledge of automation and electrical design principles
  • Working knowledge of well drilling and completions preferred. 
  • Able to prepare logical, technically supported memos, recommendations and reports.
  • Able to work with project team members to provide technical solutions. Understands local and corporate management goals and business objectives and incorporates the same into problem solving process.
  • Able to apply advanced methods to solve routine problems; awareness of at least one other discipline (reservoir, completions, drilling, production)
  • Proactive in identifying risks and seeking assistance from local experts on technical matters
  • Willing to broaden knowledge and understanding of industry financial drivers
  • Can prepare and deliver well-supported presentations to peers and management
  • Active in developing network and resources (e.g. training events, networks, professional societies)
  • Basic Understanding of economic principles and methods of cost analysis/tracking
  • Possesses a collaborative nature and actively participates in teams; actively pursue continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices and procedures with an open mind to constructive criticism for improvement. 
  • Experience in modeling complex pipeline systems using hydraulic modeling principles.
  • Excellent grasp of  Microsoft Excel and the rest of the Microsoft Suite.
